“The Youth Are Sick and Tired of the NDC Government” – NPP First Vice Chairman Kojo Bamba
According to an official Facebook Post by Citi 93.7FM on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) First Vice Chairman, Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has described the massive turnout at the party’s YÉ›gye YÉ› Sika demonstration in Accra as evidence of growing dissatisfaction among Ghanaian youth with the performance of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In his remarks, Kojo Bamba maintained that the participation of young people in the demonstration reflected their frustration with the current administration. He argued that the youth were increasingly becoming dissatisfied with the government’s performance and were using the demonstration to express their displeasure.
His comments were captured in the caption: “The youth are sick and tired of the NDC government.”
The demonstration, organised by the NPP on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, was dubbed the YÉ›gye YÉ› Sika demonstration. It brought together thousands of party supporters and sympathisers, particularly members of the party’s youth wing, who took to the streets of Accra to demand accountability from the government over issues relating to public expenditure, transparency and alleged corruption.
One of the major issues driving the protest was the government’s recent evacuation exercise involving Ghanaians stranded in South Africa. The opposition party has questioned the expenditure associated with the exercise, demanding a detailed breakdown of the funds reportedly used and greater transparency regarding the payments made.
The demonstrators also raised concerns about the issuance of diplomatic and service passports, demanding that the government provide information about the beneficiaries and the processes through which the documents were approved.
The procession moved through parts of Accra, with demonstrators carrying placards and chanting messages demanding accountability. The protesters were expected to present petitions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jubilee House, seeking the government’s attention to the concerns raised by the party.
For Kojo Bamba, the turnout was significant because of the participation of young people, a demographic whose concerns about employment, economic opportunities, education, living conditions and the general cost of living remain important issues in Ghana’s political discourse.
His comments also place the demonstration within the broader political contest between the NPP and the governing NDC, as both parties seek to connect with Ghana’s youth and address their expectations.
However, while the turnout demonstrated the ability of the NPP to mobilise its supporters, it does not, on its own, establish the political opinions of Ghanaian youth as a whole. The concerns expressed by the demonstrators will ultimately need to be considered alongside the views of young people outside the protest.
The remarks by Kojo Bamba are likely to add another dimension to the political conversation surrounding the government’s performance and the opposition’s efforts to hold it accountable.
