“I Shared A Prison Cell With Israel Makoe, He Was A Member Of The 28s Gang” Bra Nani Revealed

Bra Nani has opened up about his time behind bars, and his story is turning heads. He says he once shared a prison cell with Israel Makoe, the actor better known as GP or the Ghetto Professor, and he did not hold back about Makoe’s background. “I shared a prison cell with Israel Makoe, GP. He was a member of the 28s gang,” Bra Nani said.

Prison gangs have always been a dark part of South African jail life, and the 28s are one of the big names in that world, alongside the 26s and 27s. These groups run on strict hierarchies, rules and control inside correctional facilities, so hearing someone speak about sharing a cell with a gang member gives people a rare look at what life inside is really like.

The timing makes this even more interesting. GP is a familiar face on South African screens, famous for playing gangster characters, especially in the hit drama Yizo Yizo. Back in 2015, News24 reported that he had served an eight-year sentence for housebreaking before he turned to acting. He reportedly used his time inside to get into theatre, even writing and directing a play with fellow inmates. His journey from prison to the stage is the kind of comeback story that gets people talking.

Still, the details are thin. Bra Nani did not say when the two shared that cell, where it happened, or what led to their time behind bars. That leaves a lot of room for guessing, and fans are already filling the gaps.

What stands out is how this story shows that prison is not just about punishment. For some, it is where a life gets rebuilt, and for others, it is where a life gets stuck in a cycle.
