Trump Says US Hit Newly Built Iranian Air Defence Site

United States President Donald Trump has said American forces struck a newly completed Iranian air defence facility overnight, describing the operation as limited and insisting that Washington was not engaged in a full-scale war with Tehran.

Trump disclosed this in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, saying the US had monitored the construction of the facility for about two months before attacking it shortly after its completion.

“They built an anti-aircraft facility. It took them about two months. We watched it get built. As soon as it was completed, we hit it last night,” he said.

Describing the operation as limited, Trump added, “It was just a minor attack. It wasn’t war.”

“And you know, when you talk about war, this isn’t really war,” he said. “We hit it very hard at the beginning, but that was it.”

His comments came a day after US forces carried out strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

US officials described the Qeshm operation as limited and defensive, saying it was intended to counter threats from Iranian forces using surface-to-air missiles against American assets.

Iranian state media reported explosions on the island, while US officials said the strikes did not indicate a return to major combat operations.

The latest attacks come amid continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran over the Strait of Hormuz and the security of shipping through the strategic waterway.
