Wamumbi Replies To Gachagua’s Attack On Mt Kenya MPs, Exposes Kagombe’s Tattoo Promise To Riggy G

Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has responded to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s latest attack on Mount Kenya legislators. He turned the spotlight on Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe instead of mounting a full defence of himself.

Gachagua recently criticised several MPs from the region including Wamumbi and Kururia and Kawanjiku. He said they had let the community down. He argued that leaders of their calibre should not be returned in the next election.

He contrasted them with past figures such as Wangari Maathai who elevated the region’s reputation. He also described the three as having been elected largely out of sympathy.

In a Facebook post Wamumbi asked what exactly Kagombe had been questioned about after removing the President’s portrait from his office. He recalled that Kagombe had once told him he planned to tattoo an image of Riggy G the following month.

Wamumbi then noted that the same Kagombe was now among those being told to leave. He ended the post with laughing emojis and the words Kaba William.

The post frames Kagombe’s earlier gestures toward Gachagua as opportunistic. It also shows how quickly loyalties shift in the region’s politics.

Kagombe had earlier moved toward Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party after backing the former Deputy President’s impeachment. He reportedly faced a mixed reception on the ground.

The exchange shows the intensifying contest for influence in Mount Kenya ahead of 2027. Gachagua keeps branding certain MPs as betrayers of community interests. Ruto-aligned legislators push back by pointing to inconsistencies among those now courting his former deputy.

Legislators in the region are navigating pressure from both Gachagua’s DCP base and the ruling UDA structures. Wamumbi’s pointed recounting adds a personal layer to the public recriminations.
