Kwame A-Plus Drops Big Revelation After Attorney-General Ayine’s Statement on Kotoka Airport Name

The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A-Plus, has taken to social media to comment on the controversy over the renaming of the Kotoka International Airport.

His post, shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, came after a report by Joy News. The report said the Attorney-General has stated that the name Kotoka International Airport remains the legal name of the facility. According to the report, this will remain so until Parliament passes a Bill to rename it.

In his post, Kwame A-Plus said the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, had advised the decision-makers on the right course of action when the name change was first proposed. He claimed, however, that they ignored the advice and went ahead anyway.

“Now it has become clear; the Speaker is one of the most experienced and intelligent people in Ghana,” he wrote. He then added a pointed message: “Next time you people should listen!”

The comment is widely seen as a direct criticism of those who pushed for the name change without first following the legal process. It also highlights the important role of Parliament in such matters. Under the Attorney-General’s position, a change of name for a public institution like the airport cannot take effect through an announcement alone. It must be backed by a law passed by the House.
