Today’s Headlines:Tinubu best presidential candidate-Yilwatda;Give Regina space Nwoko appeal to fans
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, on Monday described President Bola Tinubu as the candidate of choice and the best among other candidates vying for the presidency in 2027.
Yilwatda made the declaration during the APC’s presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.
He claimed that Tinubu is building a one-trillion-dollar economy for Nigeria’s future, just like he built the Lagos State economy while he was governor.
According to Yilwatda: “Let me acknowledge the presence of everybody who is here. Today we present to Nigerians our candidate, our father, leader of our party, a transformer, an agent of change, the man that fought the ocean in Lagos into a land, reclaimed the ocean; he is transforming Nigeria also.
Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to the public, particularly fans and friends of his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, to give her space to recover, warning that those spreading false reports about her could face legal action.
Nwoko made the appeal in a statement shared on his Instagram page, expressing concern over what he described as the circulation of fabricated death announcements, misleading reports and hurtful content about the actress.
He said the appeal was not only for Daniels but also for their children, who, according to him, deserve to see their mother supported and given every opportunity to recover.
“I want to make a sincere appeal to the public, particularly Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to please give Regina some breathing space,” he said.
Vice President Kashim Shettima yesterday declared that the most difficult phase of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms was over, assuring Nigerians that a renewed mandate for the administration in 2027 would usher in an era of prosperity and tangible rewards for their sacrifices.
Shettima, who described the proposed second term as a season of harvest, insisted the administration had laid the foundation for sustainable economic growth and that no opposition party could improve the government’s economic trajectory.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State, the Vice President appealed to voters to re-elect President Tinubu, Governor Bassey Edet Otu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general election.
He maintained that the administration’s difficult economic decisions since assuming office in 2023 had rescued the economy and created conditions for improved living standards, employment opportunities and national prosperity.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at politicians opposing the Rainbow Coalition, saying they lack the capacity to unite even their families and communities.
Wike said the opposition to the political alliance, which brings together stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was driven by politicians who did not understand the value of cooperation and collective interest.
The minister spoke on Monday during the commissioning of the Gwagwalada Civil Centre and an interactive session with APC and PDP stakeholders in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.
Taking a swipe at critics of the coalition, Wike said: “Some greedy and selfish politicians do not understand what we call unity. They have no capacity to hold their space; they have no capacity to even hold their families, and they have no capacity to hold their communities. So they can open their mouths and say there is no Rainbow Coalition.”
