“My Son Is Facing Similar Bullying At School” – Ambassador Victor Smith Reacts To Javits Case

According to a report by Onua TV on November 2, 2026, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, has disclosed that his son is also experiencing bullying at school. His comments have drawn attention to the personal impact of the issue and the need to take reports of intimidation among students seriously.

Speaking about the matter following the tragic murder of Javits Frimpong, Mr Smith said his son had informed him about similar treatment at school just three weeks earlier. The ambassador’s disclosure suggests that bullying remains a concern affecting children in schools and that families may be dealing with incidents that are not always known.

Mr Smith expressed sadness that some of the children involved in intimidating and taunting others are themselves African and black. His concern points to the contradiction of children from the same racial and continental background subjecting one another to behaviour that can cause emotional distress and undermine a safe school environment.

The ambassador’s remarks place emphasis on the experiences of children who face harassment from their peers. His account also highlights the importance of listening when children report bullying, rather than dismissing such complaints as ordinary disagreements or harmless teasing.

By revealing that his son had reported a similar experience, Mr Smith has shown that the issue is not limited to one family or one school. His statement adds a personal dimension to public concern surrounding the death of Javits Frimpong, while drawing attention to the wider problem of intimidation among schoolchildren.

The ambassador’s central concern was the conduct of children who taunt and intimidate their peers, particularly when they share a common background. His disclosure has renewed focus on the need for schools and families to take children’s reports seriously and ensure that students can learn without fear of bullying.
