Nathaniel Bassey Makes African Gospel Music History With One Billion YouTube Views

According to tvcnwes.tv, A Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has recorded a major achievement in his music ministry after his official YouTube channel surpassed one billion views, placing him among Africa’s most influential gospel music ministers in the digital space.

The achievement makes Bassey the first African gospel artiste reported to have crossed the one-billion-view mark on YouTube.

His growing online audience reflects years of music releases, live worship sessions and prayer programmes that have attracted Christians from Nigeria and other parts of the world.

The milestone also comes during the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, a prayer and worship initiative established by Bassey in 2017.

What started as a midnight prayer gathering on social media has developed into an international Christian programme, drawing thousands of participants to its live sessions, while millions more follow the broadcasts online.

The initiative features praise, worship and prayers, with Bassey leading participants through different sessions of spiritual devotion.

His music catalogue has also played a significant role in building his audience. Some of his widely known songs include Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God, which continue to enjoy popularity among gospel music lovers.

Created on March 4, 2011, Bassey’s YouTube channel has grown steadily over the years, providing a platform for his musical works, ministrations and online worship gatherings.

Beyond the impressive statistics, the achievement highlights the growing reach of Nigerian gospel music and the increasing influence of digital platforms in taking African Christian music to international audiences.

Bassey’s one-billion-view record is another significant moment in his ministry, coming after years of connecting with worshippers through music and online Christian gatherings.
