ZWANE DROPS BOMBSHELL: “I’m Ready To Take Over—Scary Warning To Pirates & Sundowns

Zwane Sends Strong Message as AmaZulu Secure Fifth Straight Win in Ethekwini Derby

AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has praised his players for displaying remarkable fighting spirit after Usuthu secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over provincial rivals Golden Arrows in Saturday’s Ethekwini Derby.

The crucial Betway Premiership victory at Princess Magogo Stadium extended AmaZulu’s impressive winning streak to five consecutive league matches, further strengthening their position among the leading teams in the standings.

Zimbabwean striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya proved to be the difference between the two sides, scoring the decisive goal in the 65th minute to hand Zwane’s team all three points in a fiercely contested encounter.

Although AmaZulu entered the derby with confidence following four successive league victories, Golden Arrows presented a difficult challenge, forcing their neighbours to work hard for every opportunity.

Speaking after the match, Zwane was particularly pleased with the determination and competitive attitude displayed by his players, describing the victory as an example of the importance of grinding out results when performances become difficult.

“It was about grinding out the result. We had to compete against a strong Arrows bench, and I salute my competitive soldiers for the way they fought,” Zwane said.

His comments reflected the nature of a derby that demanded more than technical ability, with physical battles, tactical discipline and concentration playing important roles throughout the contest.

AmaZulu showed patience before eventually breaking the deadlock through Ngwenya, whose second-half contribution rewarded the team’s persistence.

Following the goal, Usuthu demonstrated maturity by protecting their advantage rather than allowing the match to become an open contest.

Golden Arrows attempted to increase the pressure through their substitutions and attacking efforts, but AmaZulu remained organised defensively and successfully protected their narrow lead until the final whistle.

The result represents another significant achievement for Zwane, whose team continues to demonstrate consistency and resilience during an encouraging start to the campaign.

Five consecutive league victories have now established AmaZulu as serious contenders in the upper section of the Betway Premiership table.

The Durban-based outfit remain third, while Golden Arrows dropped to ninth following the disappointing derby defeat.

More importantly, the victory strengthens the belief that AmaZulu could become an important challenger in the race for the league’s top positions if they maintain their current momentum.

Zwane will now expect his players to carry the same determination into their upcoming fixtures.

For Usuthu, the message is becoming increasingly clear: winning football matches is not always about producing spectacular performances, but also about showing character when the pressure is highest.
