90% Of Prophets In Ghana Sleep With Other People’s Wives – Pastor Otabil

According to a report by The BBC Ghana today being Sunday, November 1, 2026, Pastor Mensa Otabil, the founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), has made controversial allegations against some prophets in Ghana, questioning their spiritual identity and the manner in which they conduct their religious activities.

The respected Ghanaian preacher reportedly stated that 90 per cent of prophets in the country are not genuinely born again, expressing concerns about the behaviour of individuals who claim to have been called by God to lead others spiritually.

According to Pastor Otabil, many of these prophets fail to demonstrate the moral standards and Christian values expected of people occupying positions of spiritual leadership.

He alleged that a significant number of them engage in inappropriate relationships with married women, accusing some of living lifestyles that contradict the teachings of Christianity.

He did not stop at allegations of sexual misconduct but also raised concerns about the spiritual practices of some prophets. Pastor Otabil claimed that many engage in occultic activities and practise necromancy, which involves attempts to communicate with the dead.

His comments have attracted attention because of the important role pastors, prophets and other religious leaders play in Ghanaian society. Many Christians look up to these individuals for prayers, spiritual direction, counselling and guidance on important aspects of their lives.

The allegations have also reopened conversations about the growing number of prophetic ministries in the country and the need for religious leaders to demonstrate honesty, discipline and accountability in their dealings with members of the public.

Pastor Otabil’s remarks are likely to generate different reactions among Christians and other religious observers, particularly those concerned about the credibility of spiritual leaders.

While his statements highlight concerns about alleged misconduct within sections of the religious community, the claims about the conduct of prophets have also raised questions about the standards used to assess genuine Christian leadership.

The development has once again placed the issue of integrity in religious ministry at the centre of public discussion in Ghana.
