Cudjoe Defends Kofi And Kpebu,Reject Claims Of Paid Advocacy Over Mining Dispute
According to a Post on Franklin Cudjoe official facebook account on Sunday, November 1,2026,Ghanaian policy analyst and IMANI Africa President, Franklin Cudjoe, has strongly defended private legal practitioners Kofi Bentil and Martin Kpebu following allegations by Felix Ofosu Kwakye that they may have been paid to advocate for a lawful and humane approach to dealing with struggling mining companies.
In a Facebook post, Cudjoe described the allegation as grossly disrespectful, insisting that advocacy for fair treatment of legally registered businesses should not automatically be interpreted as an attempt to secure financial benefits.
He explained that he had personally been approached by owners of some of the affected mining companies and intended to engage the relevant sector authorities to explore possible solutions that could restore the companies to profitability while ensuring that the state recovers all outstanding debts, including interest.
According to him, any assessment of the companies’ liabilities should involve independent valuers to establish the actual amounts owed to the state.
Cudjoe cited his intervention in the Adamus Resources matter as an example of his approach to resolving disputes between government and private businesses. He disclosed that he advocated restraint and further deliberations when the issue was raised by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources during IMANI’s Strategic Policy Workshop with the ministry.
He noted that the minister accepted his recommendation, adding that Adamus Resources has since retained possession of its mining operations.
The IMANI president maintained that he neither requested nor received money for that intervention, explaining that his position was informed by his libertarian belief that governments should consider reasonable settlement options before resorting to the confiscation of private property.
