President Mahama government to fund javits frimpong funeral

According to report by Ghbase on Sunday 1, November 2026, foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has assured the family of the late Ghanaian teenager, Javits Frimpong, of the government’s support as they prepare to give him a dignified farewell following his tragic death in the United States.

The minister disclosed that the Mahama administration would cover the full travel expenses of Javits’ mother, Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi, to enable her to travel to the United States following the tragic incident.

According to Ablakwa, he held a conversation with Madam Adu Gyamfi on Friday, during which he personally assured her of the government’s commitment to supporting her during this difficult period.

He further revealed that officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been assigned to assist her with the necessary visa application procedures to facilitate her journey to the United States.

Beyond covering her travel expenses, the government has also expressed its willingness to contribute towards funeral arrangements to ensure that the deceased teenager receives a dignified farewell.

In a statement outlining the government’s support, Ablakwa said the Mahama administration was prepared to shoulder the full cost of the mother’s travel and provide additional assistance towards the funeral.

“The Mahama Administration will take care of the full cost of Madam Adu Gyamfi’s travels and also stands ready to contribute towards a dignified funeral,” the minister stated.

The minister also emphasised that the government remained committed to working with the relevant authorities and other stakeholders to ensure that justice is served in connection with Javits Frimpong’s murder.

Javits’ death has attracted considerable public attention, particularly because of his young age and the circumstances surrounding the incident. The 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager was reportedly killed in the United States after recently relocating there to reunite with his father and pursue his dreams.

His tragic passing has generated widespread grief and renewed calls for justice, with many Ghanaians expressing sympathy for his bereaved family.

The government’s latest intervention is expected to provide some relief to the family as they navigate the difficult period following the loss of their son.

Meanwhile, attention remains focused on the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and efforts to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
