“Ruto, Ulinifukuza Serikalini Sasa Unataka Kunifukuza Hata Kanisani?” Gachagua Fires at Ruto
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has taken another swipe at President William Ruto, questioning what he described as attempts to interfere with his freedom to attend church and engage with worshippers.
Speaking during a church service in Kamangu, Kiambu County, Gachagua delivered a pointed message directed at the Head of State, recalling his removal from government and suggesting that political differences should not extend into religious spaces.
“Ruto, ulinifukuza serikali sasa unataka kunifukuza mpaka kanisani?” Gachagua posed, drawing attention to his strained relationship with the President.
The remarks are likely to attract political attention, coming amid escalating tensions between the former Deputy President and his former boss as the country gradually moves towards the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua has increasingly positioned himself as one of Ruto’s strongest critics, using public gatherings and church appearances to challenge the current administration and rally support for his political ambitions.
His latest remarks in Kamangu also underscore the growing political rivalry between the two leaders, whose relationship dramatically deteriorated after Gachagua’s impeachment and removal from office.
The former Deputy President’s church appearance is expected to generate further debate over the intersection of religion and politics, particularly as political leaders intensify their engagement with grassroots supporters ahead of the next general election.
As the political battle continues, all eyes will be on President Ruto’s camp to see whether it will respond to Gachagua’s latest remarks.
