In a congratulatory message, the Head of State expressed his pride in Kipchumba’s remarkable victory, describing the achievement as a demonstration of Kenya’s winning spirit and continued excellence in athletics.
Kipchumba delivered an outstanding performance to win the prestigious marathon while setting a new course record. Ruto also recognised Vincent Kipyegon Ronoh for his determination and impressive performance, which earned him third place in the highly competitive men’s category.
Ronoh crossed the finishing line in 2:08:57, completing a memorable podium appearance for Kenya alongside his compatriot. Ethiopia’s Sufaro Woliyi Kebeto finished second, separating the two Kenyan athletes.
