‘I have not drunk water in the last 48years’: Billionaire Warren Buffett asserts

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has reportedly gone 48 years without drinking water, with Coca-Cola, particularly Cherry Coke, said to be his preferred beverage. The revelation was shared by fellow billionaire and Pershing Square founder and CEO Bill Ackman during an appearance on the Equity Mates Investing podcast.

Recounting a dinner he hosted for Buffett several years ago, Ackman said he had stocked up on Cherry Coke ahead of the visit because he knew it was the legendary investor’s favourite drink.

According to Ackman, while they were seated at the dining table, he offered Buffett still or sparkling water. However, the billionaire reportedly declined both options and asked for his usual soda instead.

Surprised by his response, Ackman asked Buffett whether he drank water at all.

Recalling their conversation, Ackman said Buffett replied, “Bill, I haven’t had water in 48 years.”

Buffett, who turned 96 this year, is widely known for his unusual eating and drinking habits, particularly his fondness for Coca-Cola. The billionaire has previously revealed that he drinks about five cans of the beverage daily.

In 2015, the veteran investor jokingly described himself as “one-quarter Coca-Cola,” explaining that the drink accounted for approximately 25 per cent of his daily calorie intake.

Beyond his love for soft drinks, Buffett has long expressed a preference for fast food and sugary treats, including McDonald’s meals, hot dogs, French fries, popcorn, cookies, sweets and ice cream.

The revelation about his reported water-free drinking habit has drawn attention to the billionaire’s unconventional lifestyle, which differs considerably from common recommendations for maintaining a balanced diet.

However, Buffett’s reported personal habits should not be taken as a health recommendation, as adequate hydration remains essential for normal body functions.
