Woman Buys Her Husband a Car, Builds His Mother a House Only to Find He is Sleeping with His Friend

A woman from Kisumu has shared her painful experience after allegedly discovering that her longtime partner was cheating on her with her friend, despite spending years financing his lifestyle and supporting his family.

Lilian Akinyi said she dedicated more than seven years to the relationship, during which she shouldered almost all the financial responsibilities while her partner contributed little to their household.

Speaking on TUKO Talks, Lilian recounted how she enrolled him in driving school, bought him a Nissan Tiida and later acquired two motorbikes for him.

Her financial support extended to his family, as she spent money constructing a three-bedroom house for his mother in Kisumu. The property had a perimeter fence, a gate and a toilet. She also bought 50 chickens, two sheep and two goats for the homestead.

Despite her generosity, Lilian said her partner did not reciprocate financially. She also accused him of secretly borrowing money through Fuliza using her phone without her permission.

She recalled spending approximately KSh 150,000 on a four-night Valentine’s Day getaway to Mombasa in February 2021. During the trip, she bought him a flower and asked him to surprise her with it the following day.

However, he declined, explaining that he could not give her a present she had bought herself. She claimed he never bought her flowers or even a KSh 200 chocolate throughout their relationship.

Lilian’s suspicions about his infidelity began after a woman called him during the holiday. She later noticed a woman’s photograph on his phone before discovering a message that reportedly confirmed her fears.

When confronted, her partner allegedly broke down and apologised.

Things took another painful turn when his mother questioned why Lilian had spent so much money building her home instead of buying land for her own brother.

The remarks reportedly contributed to her decision to leave Kisumu and return to Nairobi with her daughter and a suitcase.

She later sold one of the motorbikes for KSh 40,000, having initially purchased it for KSh 120,000.

Looking back, Lilian urged women to prioritise their financial independence and avoid sacrificing their resources while trying to build their partners’ lives.
