Bad News for Kenyans as Alarming News Emerges From One of Their Most-Visited Foreign Countries

Kenya has suffered a major setback after Saudi Arabia announced new travel restrictions targeting travellers from the country amid growing concerns over the Ebola outbreak.

The decision, announced on Friday, October 30, has raised concerns among Kenyans planning to travel to the Middle Eastern country for work, business and other personal activities.

According to an announcement by Saudi authorities, the Kingdom has suspended travel by its citizens to Kenya, stopped issuing all categories of visas to people arriving from Kenya and prohibited entry into Saudi Arabia for travellers coming from the country.

The restrictions also affect travellers using other countries as transit routes. Anyone who has stayed in Kenya or another country experiencing an active Ebola outbreak within the 21 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia is also affected.

Saudi Arabia explained that the decision followed an assessment of the Ebola situation by its health authorities.

The latest development comes as Kenya continues to deal with an outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which has raised concerns among health officials.

By October 30, Kenya had confirmed nine cases and two deaths linked to the outbreak. The government has since intensified contact tracing, testing and monitoring of people who may have come into contact with infected patients.

However, health officials have reported progress in containing the outbreak, with no new confirmed infections reported for several consecutive days.

Saudi Arabia said its health situation remained stable and that it was closely monitoring developments in affected countries.

The Kingdom had previously introduced similar restrictions involving the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan in June 2026.

The latest announcement could affect Kenyans seeking new travel opportunities in Saudi Arabia, particularly those who depend on the country for employment.

Travellers have been urged to follow official updates and confirm their travel arrangements with relevant authorities as the situation develops.
