Charles McCarthy Calls for Investigation into NPP Members Who Visited Wontumi at Nsawam Prison

Political commentator Charles McCarthy has called for an investigation into New Patriotic Party (NPP) members who reportedly visited former Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, at Nsawam Prison with food.

McCarthy made the call while commenting on allegations that Wontumi was the target of an attempted poisoning incident during his time in prison.

According to him, security agencies should investigate all party members who visited the imprisoned politician and brought him food, arguing that their actions should be examined as part of efforts to establish what actually happened.

He specifically mentioned Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, claiming that the Nsawam North MP was among those who visited Wontumi.

McCarthy described the visitors as potential suspects who should be questioned in connection with the poisoning allegations. However, his comments represent his personal opinion and do not establish that any of the visitors participated in an attempt to harm Wontumi.

The allegations have attracted public attention because of Wontumi’s political position and the circumstances surrounding his imprisonment.
