Singer L.A.X holds Nikkah ceremony after Malta wedding
According to a report by Punch on Friday, October 30, 2026, Nigerian singer Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X, and his wife, Ella, have held their Islamic wedding ceremony, weeks after exchanging vows at a civil wedding in Malta.
The couple celebrated their Nikkah on Thursday night, formally solemnising their marriage under Islamic rites following their September wedding abroad.
The ceremony featured several religious and social activities, including Qur’anic recitation, prayers, thanksgiving, blessings and donations to a mosque. A naming ceremony was also included in the programme.
Although the naming ceremony attracted questions about its significance and whether it suggested that Ella had embraced Islam, there was no confirmation that she had converted to the religion.
L.A.X and Ella had first announced their marriage in September through photographs shared on Instagram from their ceremony in Malta. The singer described the occasion as his legal union with the woman he loves.
L.A.X rose to prominence in the Nigerian music industry in 2013 after releasing Caro, a collaboration with Afrobeats star Wizkid under Starboy Entertainment. He later worked with Wizkid on another hit song, Ginger, which further strengthened his position in the music industry.
