” Linda Mwananchi Is Now Linda Bungoma”, Ruto’s Ally Alleges

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, a close ally of President William Ruto, has launched a blistering political assault on the Linda Mwananchi Movement, questioning its national appeal, political credibility and capacity to evolve into a formidable political force ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Cherargei has controversially suggested that the movement, which has attracted considerable attention through its political mobilisation activities, is increasingly becoming a regional political outfit associated with the Bukusu community in Bungoma rather than a genuinely national platform capable of commanding support across Kenya.

In an explosive assessment, the outspoken senator has further portrayed the movement as lacking a clearly established political identity, arguing that its supporters are already associated with different political parties instead of consolidating their political ambitions under one umbrella.

He has interpreted this arrangement as a possible indication of limited confidence in Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s leadership and political direction.

Turning his attention to Sifuna’s presidential ambitions, Cherargei has cast doubt on whether the youthful politician possesses the electoral machinery and political influence required to compete successfully in a national contest. He has gone as far as questioning Sifuna’s ability to secure even a Member of County Assembly seat.

Cherargei also invoked the political identities of prominent figures associated with the opposition movement, including Babu Owino, Onyonka, Mwangaza, Kimilu, Giseiro and Mwashaku, arguing that their individual political affiliations undermine the idea of a united political formation.

His remarks introduce another explosive dimension to the growing political confrontation surrounding Linda Mwananchi, with Sifuna’s supporters facing fresh questions about the movement’s national ambitions and organisational unity.
