Corne Mulder Has Revealed A Secret Meeting To Form A New Afrikaans Political Party

Corne Mulder, the head of Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), has disclosed that on October 6, 2026, a meeting was held in Fourways, Johannesburg, to explore the creation of a new Afrikaans political party.

Mulder revealed the information while debating the Freedom Front Plus’s identity and political orientation with Professor Koos Malan on the KykNet program In Gesprek.

The disclosure raises concerns about whether the FF Plus has shifted away from its customary emphasis on Afrikaans and Afrikaner issues in an effort to increase its base of support and transform into a more mainstream opposition party.

Malan contended during the conversation that the party’s historical emphasis on the Afrikaner community had given way to a greater emphasis on coalition politics and government.

He contrasted the party’s current strategy with the political revolution of the former National Party, which was led by Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Rolf Meyer, and FW de Klerk.

Malan suggested that the FF Plus’s evolving political approach was a result of its increasing support from individuals of various racial and cultural origins.

Mulder, however, disagreed, stating that the party had not abandoned its core values.

He insisted that the FF Plus continued to function from a Christian, centre-right political base and was still deeply ingrained in the Afrikaner community.

Mulder also rejected the idea that his party and the former National Party were similar, calling it absurd.

Mulder claims that people from a variety of backgrounds support the FF Plus because they share its political beliefs, which include traditional conservative values, limited government, and the defence of private property rights.

The conversation then shifted to the alleged gathering in Fourways, where Mulder disclosed that people had convened to talk about starting a new Afrikaner-oriented political organization.

Mulder stated, “Professor Malan can tell us about the meeting that just took place in Fourways on October 6, 2026.”

He also mentioned that throughout the meeting, there had been talks about starting a new political party.

Mulder said he would be open to another party entering South African politics, especially if it planned to run in the general elections in 2029.

He questioned the necessity of creating a rival party to compete with the FF Plus for support within the same electoral electorate.

“I hope the best for them. Mulder stated, “I wish them strength,” but it was evident that he didn’t think another Afrikaner-focused party was needed.

As political parties continued to oppose the African National Congress (ANC) at various levels of government, he maintained that coordination among opposition parties was crucial.

“To defeat the ANC, we currently need every cooperative vote.” That’s what I care about, and I’m worried about it,” he remarked.

Mulder also cautioned that forming a rival party to the FF Plus might make it more difficult to win over voters with similar political views.

He stated, “I believe it’s a fatal mistake.”

Malan, on the other hand, disassociated himself from the gathering, claiming not to be aware of it and implying that Mulder seemed to be more knowledgeable about it.

As of the discussion, the report contained no additional information regarding the potential party’s name, suggested leadership, or organisers.

The disclosure has given the discussion of Afrikaans political representation in South Africa a new angle, especially as parties are planning their approaches for the general elections in 2029.
