Mfundo Vilakazi Reveals Fernando Da Cruz’s True Position on Showboating at Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi has opened up about head coach Fernando Da Cruz’s views on showboating and the positive influence the French tactician has had on his development since taking charge of the Soweto giants. The young attacking midfielder has offered insight into the coach’s expectations and how their working relationship is helping him improve his performances.

Vilakazi is regarded as one of the exciting young talents at Amakhosi, with his technical ability, creativity and confidence on the ball making him an interesting player to watch. His entertaining style of play has attracted attention from supporters, particularly when he attempts skills and tricks to get past opponents. However, questions have emerged about whether such individual displays fit into the tactical approach preferred by the new coaching team.

Da Cruz’s position on showboating has therefore become an important subject, especially for a player like Vilakazi, whose game involves creativity and taking on defenders. The coach’s philosophy appears to focus on ensuring that individual expression contributes positively to the team’s overall performance rather than becoming an unnecessary distraction during matches.

For Vilakazi, understanding these expectations is part of his growth as a professional footballer. Playing under a coach with different tactical ideas requires young players to become more disciplined, improve their decision-making and recognise when certain skills are appropriate during a game.

The midfielder has also acknowledged the positive impact Da Cruz has made on his development. Working with the new coach provides an opportunity to improve different aspects of his football, including his movement, tactical awareness, positioning and contribution to the team’s attacking structure.

At Kaizer Chiefs, the development of young players remains important as the club continues working towards building a competitive squad capable of challenging for major honours. Vilakazi’s progress could therefore become significant for the team’s ambitions.

Chiefs supporters will be hoping that the youngster continues developing his natural talent while maintaining the creativity that makes him special. His ability to combine entertaining football with tactical discipline could make him an even more valuable option for Amakhosi as the season progresses.

For now, Vilakazi’s comments offer an interesting look at how Da Cruz is influencing his approach to the game and helping him become a more complete midfielder.
