Vivo Energy condemns viral petrol spraying stunt at a Shell Outlet
A man captured in a viral video spraying petrol onto a vehicle at the Shell Westview Service Station in Nairobi is in trouble.
Petroleum company Vivo Energy says it has launched investigations to ascertain the circumstances sorrounding the incident.
In a statement, the company has condemned the act as irresponsible and reckless, rueing that such behaviour poses a serious risk to public safety and endangers people’s lives.
In the video taken on the night of 28th October, the man is seen handling a fuel nozzle and directing petrol into a vehicle. But instead of pouring the fuel inside the fuel tank, he is seen splashing the fuel on the body of the car, perhaps to show off how monied he is.
“Safety is our highest priority and the behaviour shown in the video does not reflect the standards expected at any of the Shell service stations in Kenya,” Vivo Energy says. “We take this matter seriously and are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
According to the company, the manager at the service station immediately reported the matter to the relevant authorities for investigation and necessary action.
“We are also reinforcing safety requirements to help ensure our standards are constantly maintained. We thank members of the public who have raised concerns and would like to reassure customers that we remain committed to maintaining the highest safety standards across our network.”
