WATCH | Court delays March and March interdict, police to submit new evidence
The Durban High Court on Friday morning briefly adjourned proceedings in the matter involving March and March to allow the applicant to add further information in its interdiction, including videos allegedly recorded by the organisation during a recent march and said to contain incitement to violence.
The matter, which was scheduled to begin at 10 am, experienced delays after the applicant, the police department, sought to include the additional material in its court interdict.

March and March national spokesperson Sandile Dube, speaking to The Witness on the sidelines of the proceedings during the brief adjournment, said the applicant alleged that videos recorded by the organisation during a recent march contained footage inciting violence.
Dube said details of the additional information submitted by the applicant would be made public once the matter was heard later in the day.
March and March is filing its responding papers in opposition to a police interdict seeking to prevent the movement from staging its planned protest.
Earlier, before proceedings began, the movement’s legal representative, Xolani Zuma, accused the government of prioritising the protection of undocumented immigrants over the concerns of South African citizens.

Zuma further described the ongoing dispute as more than an ordinary political or legal battle, suggesting that deeper issues underpin the government’s handling of illegal immigration.
