George Ruto Sparks Concern After Appearing in Arm Sling in Family Photo

Kenyans have expressed concern about George Ruto, the son of President William Ruto, after he was spotted wearing an arm sling in a family photograph shared on social media.

The photograph, shared on Facebook by a user identified as Baba Taifa, showed George dressed in a white shirt and beige trousers, smiling alongside a man holding a child and a woman wearing a floral dress. The group appeared to have been photographed inside a private residence.

However, attention quickly shifted to the grey sling supporting George’s right arm, with social media users questioning what might have happened to him.

According to the Facebook post, the main subject of the conversation was an upcoming football match rather than George’s health.

The post’s caption read: “Uncle Kimutai has confirmed 5th January 2027. We will watch Bayern Munich vs. Ajax live in Nairobi.”

Despite the football announcement, the sight of George wearing an arm sling attracted attention in the comments section. Some users sought to establish what had happened, while others sent him messages of support and wished him well.

At the time of publication, George had not publicly explained how he sustained the injury. There was also no information in the report confirming its cause or severity.

The photograph emerged a day after George shared his excitement about the planned friendly match between German giants Bayern Munich and Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam.

George reportedly took to his verified Instagram account, @georgekruto, to share the official match poster. He captioned the post with the words “Very bad”, a popular Sheng expression used to convey excitement or admiration.

The match is scheduled for January 5, 2027, at the newly constructed Raila Odinga International Stadium in Nairobi.

President William Ruto announced on October 28 that the fixture would serve as the stadium’s official opening match. The 60,000 seater facility is located at Talanta Sports City along Ngong Road.

The announcement has attracted interest among football fans, particularly as Kenya prepares to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations alongside its co-hosts.

For now, George’s appearance in an arm sling has prompted questions about his well being, with no public explanation of the injury available at the time of publication.
