Big Blow to Sifuna ,Kalonzo and Matiang’i as Gachagua Makes This Tough Bold Statement
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed the condition his political allies must meet to earn his support as leaders continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua said he had made it clear to his colleagues that political support should not be based on personal ambitions alone. Instead, leaders seeking his backing must demonstrate a willingness to work with others if they fail to secure the positions they desire.
According to Gachagua, he expects politicians to publicly declare that they are ready to support another candidate if they are not the ones chosen to represent their political camp. He believes such a commitment would help strengthen unity and prevent unnecessary divisions among leaders pursuing similar goals.
“I have told my colleagues that if you want my support, you must publicly commit that, if it is not you, you are willing to support others,” Gachagua stated.
His remarks highlight the growing importance of political alliances as leaders begin preparing for the next general election. With several politicians expected to compete for influential positions, the question of who will step aside for another candidate could shape negotiations within the opposition.
Gachagua’s position also places responsibility on individual politicians to show whether they are committed to a shared political course or primarily interested in personal success. Publicly accepting another candidate could help reduce disagreements during the selection of preferred candidates.
However, the condition could prove challenging for politicians who have already invested heavily in their ambitions. Some leaders may find it difficult to abandon their plans, particularly where they believe they have strong public support.
As political discussions intensify, Gachagua’s message could become an important point of debate among leaders seeking to build a united front against their rivals.
Whether his colleagues will accept the condition remains to be seen. Their willingness to support one another could ultimately determine how strong their political alliance becomes before Kenyans head to the ballot in 2027.
