Kenyans Given Date to Buy Tickets for Bayern Munich vs Ajax Match in Nairobi

Kenyans planning to watch Bayern Munich face Ajax in Nairobi have been given a date to begin purchasing tickets for the highly anticipated match. President William Ruto announced on Wednesday, October 28, that ticket sales will open on Thursday, November 5, 2026, through the official Talanta Sports City website.

The exhibition match is scheduled for January 5, 2027, at the newly named Raila Odinga International Stadium along Ngong Road in Nairobi. The fixture will officially open the 60,000-seat facility, which was built to support Kenya’s preparations for major international football events.

Ruto described the meeting between the German and Dutch clubs as a historic occasion for Kenya. He said the government was fulfilling its promise to provide a world-class stadium capable of attracting leading football teams. Bayern Munich and Ajax have a rich European history, with the two clubs sharing multiple continental titles.

The match will also form part of the preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania between June and July. The tournament will be staged across three countries for the first time, bringing major football attention to East Africa. The new Nairobi stadium is among the facilities expected to host matches during the competition.

Bayern Munich board member Rouven Kasper said the visit would help the club strengthen its relationship with its supporters across Africa. Ajax also welcomed the invitation, describing the match as an important test ahead of the second half of its season. With ticket sales set to begin in early November, supporters will have an opportunity to plan ahead for the January fixture.
