Just In Uplifting News: SASSA Publishes Early Grant Payment Notice for Beneficiaries

South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries can now prepare for December 2026 grant payments following the publication of the official 2026/2027 social grant payment schedule. The confirmed dates provide important guidance for older persons, people receiving disability grants and families depending on child support.

According to the Department of Social Development, the payment schedule was confirmed in March 2026 following approval by National Treasury. However, beneficiaries should understand that the published dates are part of the annual schedule, not a newly announced early-payment arrangement.

The official schedule lists the following dates for December:

These dates cover the main social grant payment categories. Grant-in-Aid is linked to the relevant main grant, while beneficiaries receiving the Social Relief of Distress grant should check their individual payment status separately.

Beneficiaries should confirm their usual payment method before December. Those receiving grants through bank accounts should ensure their accounts remain active and that their banking details are correct.

People collecting cash should plan their transport and collection arrangements carefully. There is generally no need to withdraw money immediately after it becomes available, allowing beneficiaries to choose a convenient time and potentially avoid long queues.

Beneficiaries should also protect their personal information. Never disclose banking PINs, passwords or one-time passwords to anyone claiming to offer assistance with grant payments.

Although the December dates appear in the approved annual schedule, beneficiaries should monitor the official SASSA website for any subsequent announcements or changes.

Those receiving SRD grants can check their applications through the official SRD portal. Individual payment information should be checked before making financial commitments.

If a grant payment is delayed or a beneficiary experiences difficulties accessing funds, assistance is available through SASSA’s toll-free number, 0800 60 10 11, or at a local SASSA office.

The confirmed December dates offer beneficiaries an opportunity to plan ahead, but checking official information remains essential. Beneficiaries should rely on verified announcements rather than rumours about additional early payments.
