Macpherson Blacklists 13 More Construction Companies, Bringing Total to 75 Since 2024
Pretoria – Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Dean Macpherson has announced the removal of a further 13 construction companies from the Construction Industry Development Board’s (CIDB) National Register of Contractors following findings of misrepresentation in their applications to upgrade their registration grades.
The latest action brings the total number of construction companies removed from the register and blacklisted since June 2024 to 75, as authorities continue efforts to promote accountability and integrity within the construction industry.
The companies were reportedly found to have misrepresented information in their applications, raising concerns about compliance with the requirements governing contractor registration and grading.
The CIDB’s National Register of Contractors plays an important role in regulating the industry by assessing contractors according to their capabilities and experience. Registration grades help determine the size and value of construction projects that companies are eligible to undertake.
The removal of the 13 companies forms part of broader efforts to address irregularities in the sector and ensure that contractors meet the required standards when seeking registration upgrades.
The growing number of companies removed from the register highlights the government’s continued focus on tackling alleged misconduct and strengthening oversight within the construction industry.
Macpherson’s announcement reinforces the importance of transparency and compliance in public infrastructure development, where contractors are expected to demonstrate honesty and meet established regulatory requirements.
