When I Was Lagos AG We Gave Every Lagos Judge Big 4-Bedroom House With BQ For Life And Cars—Osinbajo
In a video shared by Channels Television, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stated that when he served as Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, his administration introduced reforms to improve the appointment, welfare and discipline of judges
Osinbajo said in 2001 Lagos State government increased the salaries of judges and gave every judge four-bedroom homes, cars that could be replaced every four years, and medical support.
Osinbajo said the reforms also addressed corruption among judicial officers. He stated that allegations of corruption were referred to the National Judicial Council (NJC), and the government implemented its recommendations rather than shielding accused judges from disciplinary action.
In Osinbajo’s words: “We then decided that every judge in Lagos must have a house of their own. The moment you become a judge we give you a house, you chose where you want your house and it could be Ikeja, Lekki or Ikoyi. These are places where we had properties, and it is your house for life. The moment you become a judge you also get a big home: four bedrooms, boys quarters and all that. We gave them cars, renewable every four years, medical support as well”
