One of The People Ruto Accused of Bribing Judges Shows Himself, Issues a Warning

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has challenged President William Ruto’s allegations of corruption within the judiciary.

Ruto has claimed that certain judges are colluding with corrupt interests to hinder his legacy projects, with the senator believing that he is among the people the President was accusing of bribing judges.

He has vehemently refuted these accusations, asserting that he has not influenced any judge in the cases he has brought to court against government policies.

In a firm rejoinder, Omtatah has challenged the President to present evidence supporting the bribery claims, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.

He underscored the President’s right to express concerns but insisted on the importance of backing such claims with concrete proof.

He has as well asked the President to make use of the intelligence he consumes on regular basis to make informed claims and stop making baseless allegations.

“His Excellency the President has a right under the law to be heard, and he also has a right to protest just as he has done, and he has access to intelligence, which other Kenyans and I don’t have,” he said in a statement on Friday.

“I look him straight in the eye and challenge him to table the evidence of bribe-taking against any judge or bribe-giving he has against any litigant and let the chips fall where they may.”

Describing Ruto’s remarks as “unfortunate, reckless, misguided, and unconstitutional,” Omtatah warned of serious consequences if the President will not be able substantiate his allegations.

He called for an apology to the judiciary, petitioners, and the public, urging Ruto to reflect on the responsibilities of his high office.

“The President should immediately take a deep breath and reflect on the all-important office he occupies,” Omtatah declared, emphasizing the need for accountability and respect for democratic institutions.

As the political drama unfolds, Kenyans are awaiting the President’s response, wondering whether evidence will be tabled or if an apology will be issued.
