Andre Ayew donates to Black Challenge ahead of Amputee World Cup

Former Ghana captain André Ayew has offered financial support and words of encouragement to the national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

Ayew visited the team during training to express his support as they prepare to represent Ghana at the tournament, which will take place from 13 to 22 November in San Juan de los Lagos.

The amount of his donation has not been disclosed.

“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” Ayew told the players.

The former Black Stars captain’s gesture comes as the team intensifies preparations for the global competition, where they will seek to make Ghana proud.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq, with 24 national teams set to compete for the title.

Ayew’s visit is expected to provide an additional morale boost to the players as they prepare to face some of the world’s best amputee football teams.

His support also highlights the importance of recognising and investing in athletes with disabilities as they pursue sporting success on the international stage.

The Black Challenge will be hoping to translate that encouragement into strong performances in Mexico as they compete for the world title and seek to bring home a medal for Ghana.
