Oyo Ranks Third in Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria, Says Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced on Tuesday that the state currently ranks third in Nigeria’s ease of doing business, attributing this economic milestone to targeted policy reforms and sustained investments in key state infrastructure.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, while speaking through Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry Prof. Salihu Adelabu at the 2026 Oyo State International Trade Fair, Makinde highlighted continental opportunities.

The governor emphasized that Oyo State remains the only sub-national government nationwide officially registered with the African Continental Free Trade Area, positioning regional entrepreneurs to access continental markets comprising approximately 1.4 billion prospective consumers.

The international trade fair was organized jointly by the Oyo State Government and the Oyo State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture to foster closer economic integration, market expansion, and business innovation.

Addressing attendees at the Samonda trade fair complex in Ibadan, Makinde stressed that all seven geopolitical zones across the state remain interconnected, providing solid foundations for widespread commercial activity and sustainable private enterprise expansion.

Representing NACCIMA National President Jani Ibrahim, Chief Kola Akosile reaffirmed the business association’s ongoing commitment to advocating policies that support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises while strengthening vital public and private sector partnerships.

Furthermore, OYCCIMA President Niran Adewoyin commended the state government for creating an enabling environment for local industries to flourish, while market representatives urged authorities to continuously safeguard agricultural interests alongside public safety statewide.
