Opposition Names Two Prominent Figures Ruto Will Allegedly Buy Ahead of 2027 — Details
Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka has taken a swipe at Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, making remarks that could spark fresh debate over Western Kenya’s political future.
Wamboka mocked the two senior leaders while questioning their political influence and their decision to work closely with President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“Ruto atanunua tu ndugu zetu wawili. Mmoja anaitwa ‘Bure’, huyo ni Musalia Mudavadi; mwingine anaitwa ‘Bure Kabisa’, huyo ni Moses Wetang’ula,” Wamboka said.
Translated into English, the MP suggested that Ruto would simply win over the two leaders, referring to Mudavadi as having no value and Wetang’ula as having absolutely no value. His remarks were a political attack, not an established fact about either leader.
The comments come at a time when leaders from Western Kenya are debating how the region should position itself ahead of the next presidential election.
Mudavadi serves as Prime Cabinet Secretary, while Wetang’ula is the Speaker of the National Assembly. Both have been associated with Ruto’s political camp and have defended cooperation with his administration.
On October 24, Wetang’ula urged residents of Western Kenya to support Ruto’s re-election in 2027, while also declaring his intention to pursue the presidency in 2032. He argued that the region should build its political influence by working with the current administration.
Wamboka, however, has backed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s presidential ambitions, placing him on the opposite side of the political debate from leaders supporting Ruto.
The differences reflect a growing contest over who should speak for the Luhya community and what political strategy would best serve its interests.
As the 2027 elections approach, the region’s leaders face increasing pressure to explain what their alliances could deliver in terms of development, representation and opportunities for local residents.
Will these sharp exchanges change Western Kenya’s political direction, or will Ruto retain the support of his key allies in the region?
