Nyoro: Ruto Only Reacts When His Money Is Threatened
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has launched a fresh attack on President William Ruto, claiming the Head of State is unmoved by national crises and responds only when his personal finances are at stake.
In a video shared by The Standard Digital, Nyoro told a gathering that even if the president were informed the country was burning, he would not be bothered.
He urged the audience to target “where his money is,” arguing that this is the only thing that would make the president “jump.” Nyoro delivered the remarks to a hall of seated officials and supporters. The date and venue were not given in the post.
The comments are the latest in a string of sharp criticisms from the legislator. Once seen as one of Ruto’s key allies, Nyoro was removed as chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee in March 2025 and as a member in July 2025, moves widely seen as politically motivated, according to one report.
Since then, he has focused on the government’s economic record. He has cautioned that the country is borrowing about KSh 100 billion every month, which he says is overheating the economy.
He has also accused the administration of gambling with the country’s future through opaque financing that has raised over Sh469 billion in a year, pegged on future taxes and levies.
The president, for his part, has painted a more optimistic picture. In his State of the Nation address, he projected GDP growth above 5% for 2025, citing renewed investor confidence and a stable macroeconomic environment. The presidency had not responded to Nyoro’s latest remarks in the material available at the time of writing.
The exchange reflects the sharpening political temperature as parties and leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
Whether Nyoro’s pointed rhetoric resonates with voters, particularly in the Mt Kenya region where he holds sway, remains to be seen.
