“Mimi Ndiye Babake Sifuna” Sifuna’s Father Declares Support for Son’s 2027 Presidential Bid

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has attracted fresh attention after a video emerged showing his father publicly supporting his leadership ambitions and urging him to remember his roots if he becomes president.

In the circulating clip, Sifuna’s father introduces himself before declaring that his son has his blessings. He expresses hope that the senator will one day rise to the country’s highest office, adding a personal dimension to discussions about Sifuna’s political future.

“Mimi ndiye baba yake Sifuna na ako na baraka zangu, lakini akiwa president asisahau pahali ametoka!” he says.

In English, the statement means: “I am Sifuna’s father, and he has my blessings, but if he becomes president, he should not forget where he came from.”

The message comes as Sifuna remains a prominent figure in Kenya’s opposition politics. The Nairobi senator has served as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary-general and has drawn attention through his political positions amid discussions about the opposition’s direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.

His father’s remarks suggest personal support for the possibility of a presidential future. However, a parent’s endorsement does not amount to an official campaign announcement, and the video alone does not establish that Sifuna has decided to contest the presidency.

The message has nevertheless added to public discussion about the senator’s ambitions at a time when opposition leaders are weighing their political options and possible alliances. Whether Sifuna will seek the presidency remains a separate question that only his own public declaration can settle.

For now, the strongest message from the clip is one of family support and a reminder about humility. Sifuna’s next political moves will determine whether the presidential hopes expressed by his father develop into an actual electoral bid.
