Ruto Faces Leaders in Kitui as Three Counties Deliver Their Verdict on His Government
President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining close engagement with citizens and leaders as part of efforts to accelerate Kenya’s national development agenda.
Speaking at State Lodge, Kitui, President Ruto said continuous consultation with leaders and communities remains essential in assessing the impact of government programmes and identifying areas requiring greater attention.
The President said he was pleased to brief leaders from Kitui, Machakos and Makueni counties on the development initiatives undertaken by his administration over the past four years.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for leaders to share feedback on the progress made and the challenges that continue to affect residents across the three counties.
Ruto emphasised that development should be driven by regular interaction between the national government, county leadership and citizens.
He noted that such engagements enable the government to better understand the needs of communities while ensuring that public investments respond to priorities on the ground.
The meeting brought together leaders representing the interests of residents across the three counties, which have continued to push for increased investment in infrastructure, water, education, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors critical to improving livelihoods.
According to the President, the progress recorded over the past four years demonstrates the government’s focus on delivering projects and programmes intended to improve the quality of life of Kenyans.
However, he acknowledged the importance of receiving candid feedback from leaders and citizens to strengthen implementation and address emerging concerns.
The engagement in Kitui also underscored the significance of regional cooperation in advancing development.
Kitui, Machakos and Makueni share similar socio-economic challenges, including water scarcity, climate pressures and the need for stronger economic opportunities for young people and farmers.
President Ruto said his administration would continue working with leaders at both national and county levels to ensure that development gains are sustained and expanded.
The meeting comes as the government seeks to deepen accountability and strengthen collaboration with communities across the country.
For residents of the three counties, the discussions provided an avenue to highlight their priorities directly to the President and seek greater attention to projects that can transform livelihoods.
Ruto’s message was clear: sustained dialogue, accountability and partnership between leaders and citizens will remain central to Kenya’s development journey.
