Mosiria Rejects Sonko’s Reconciliation Move Over Political Rivals.

Geoffrey Mosiria has publicly clarified his political position following former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s attempt to reconcile him with his political opponents, insisting that his gubernatorial ambition must remain his priority.

In a statement addressing his supporters and Nairobi residents, Mosiria appreciated Sonko’s friendship, mentorship and willingness to support his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat. However, he maintained that he could not make political peace with individuals competing against him for the same position.

Mosiria explained that although politicians can respect one another, voters must be allowed to choose their preferred leaders without unnecessary political interference. He also cited previous political arrangements involving former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Peter Kenneth and former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to illustrate that politicians can maintain relationships while pursuing different ambitions.

Reflecting on their recent live broadcast, Mosiria admitted feeling uncomfortable with how the conversation unfolded. He said the engagement was expected to focus on Sonko’s endorsement of his candidature rather than efforts to reconcile him with individuals he claims have frustrated his work over the past three years.

According to Mosiria, openly challenging his mentor during the broadcast could have damaged their relationship and affected his political standing.

He further argued that Nairobi faces pressing challenges, including recurring building collapses and the tragic loss of innocent lives, which require accountability and practical solutions rather than political compromises.

Mosiria urged Sonko to openly support his gubernatorial ambition if he genuinely believes he is the right person to lead Nairobi. Nevertheless, he emphasized that he still values Sonko’s experience and will continue seeking his counsel.

Reaffirming his commitment to Nairobi residents, Mosiria declared that his mission remains to fix the city, insisting that leadership requires conviction and a willingness to put citizens first.
