Tony Elumelu gifts Zlatan, Davita wedding presents

Nigerian billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu has gifted Afrobeats rapper Zlatan Ibile and his wife, Davita Lamai, wedding presents following their traditional marriage ceremony in Lagos.

The rapper shared images of the thick white envelopes containing the gifts on social media on Monday, two days after the couple celebrated their traditional wedding on Saturday, October 24.

Elumelu, chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, sent the presents to congratulate the couple on their union, tagged #DTTheUnion.

The wedding attracted several personalities from the entertainment industry, including singer Davido, who served as one of Zlatan’s groomsmen.

Davido arrived at the ceremony in a white Rolls Royce and had earlier described the occasion as a “Heavy weekend for my bestie” in a social media post featuring bundles of dollar bills.

Zlatan, whose real name is Omoniyi Raphael, and Davita announced their wedding date in a video shared on Instagram on October 8. The video featured a voiceover from one of their children reflecting on their parents’ relationship and family life.

The couple have two sons together and have kept much of their family life away from public attention. Their traditional wedding featured Edo inspired outfits in recognition of Davita’s heritage, followed by a second look in coordinated Yoruba attire.

Elumelu has maintained links with Nigeria’s creative industry through his business and philanthropic activities, including initiatives supporting African entrepreneurs. His wedding gift adds to the celebrations surrounding the rapper’s marriage.
