“He Never Offered Any Financial Support During Ol Kalou By-election” Gachagua’s Ally Exposes Nyoro

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary General and Nyandarua Senator John Methu has strongly denied receiving financial support from Kiharu MP and People’s Party of Kenya leader Ndindi Nyoro during the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election campaign.

Speaking during a television interview on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Methu directly refuted public claims made by the Kiharu lawmaker asserting that he contributed critical campaign funds to support the DCP candidate during the intense electoral contest.

Senator Methu explained that despite repeated efforts to seek financial campaign assistance from Nyoro while facing intense electoral pressure from government-aligned political forces, no financial backing was provided to the party.

Methu noted that Nyoro later cited personal financial constraints following the elections, which directly contradicted his public statements regarding campaign sponsorship.

He further confirmed that neither former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua nor DCP candidate Kamau Ngotho received any campaign funds from the Kiharu legislator.

The dispute follows assertions by Nyoro maintaining that he provided financial support to the DCP campaign as part of a strategic political effort to challenge the ruling administration, claiming the transaction was acknowledged via text message.

The contrasting accounts highlight an escalating political feud between Gachagua’s DCP and Nyoro’s newly formed People’s Party of Kenya over strategic leadership and political control of the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

DCP leaders have accused Nyoro of attempting to fragment the opposition vote by establishing a competing political platform, while Nyoro maintains his party operates independently without intending to divide regional unity.

The public disagreements over campaign financing, institutional transparency, and party allegiance underscore deepening rivalries as political figures actively maneuver for long-term dominance across the broader Mount Kenya electoral landscape.
