EUROPE SHOCK: Mofokeng Causes Total Mayhem

Union SG Boss Hails Team Character as Mofokeng Inspires Stunning Comeback Victory

Royale Union Saint-Gilloise head coach David Hubert has praised his team’s character and personality following an impressive comeback victory over Cercle Brugge, with South African sensation Relebohile Mofokeng playing a decisive role in the thrilling encounter.

The Belgian champions produced a remarkable turnaround to secure a 5-2 victory after falling two goals behind, demonstrating their resilience and determination to fight until the final whistle.

For South African football supporters, Mofokeng’s performance was another encouraging sign of his growing influence in European football following his move from Orlando Pirates.

Union Saint-Gilloise endured a difficult start to the match after Cercle Brugge took the lead through a first-half penalty before extending their advantage shortly after the break.

However, the hosts refused to surrender and gradually fought their way back into the contest.

Raul Florucz reduced the deficit before Massire Sylla helped Union restore parity, setting the stage for an impressive attacking response.

Union eventually took control of the match, moving ahead 3-2 following an own goal by Cercle Brugge defender Emmanuel Kakou.

Mofokeng then produced a moment of quality in the 80th minute, rising to meet Louis Patris’ cross with a well-timed header to extend his team’s advantage.

The former Orlando Pirates attacker was not finished, however, as he turned provider in the closing stages.

In the 90th minute, Mofokeng supplied the assist for Kevin Rodriguez to score Union’s fifth goal, putting the finishing touches on a memorable comeback.

Although Mofokeng’s contribution attracted attention, head coach Hubert also highlighted the collective spirit that enabled his players to recover from a difficult position.

The comeback demonstrated the importance of maintaining composure, believing in the team’s approach and continuing to fight despite early setbacks.

Such performances could prove valuable as Union Saint-Gilloise balance their domestic responsibilities with their European campaign.

The Belgian side’s ability to respond under pressure will also strengthen their confidence as the season progresses.

Mofokeng’s latest display represents another positive development in his European journey.

The South African international has continued to demonstrate his attacking qualities, combining intelligent movement, technical ability and an eye for goal to make an impact for his new club.

His goal and assist against Cercle Brugge further underlined his ability to influence matches at crucial moments.

The victory also helped Union maintain their position among the leading teams in the Belgian Pro League, keeping them within touching distance of the summit.

For Mofokeng and his growing South African fan base, the challenge now will be to maintain this impressive form and continue delivering decisive performances in Belgium.
