Just Days After Hospital Discharge, Oburu Breaks Silence With a Humble Message and Wish

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Oburu Odinga has wished learners sitting for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) success as the national assessments begin across the country.

His message comes at an important time for thousands of families whose children are undertaking the assessments that will help determine their next stage of education.

The 2026 KPSEA and KJSEA assessments officially began on Monday, October 26, with a total of 3,634,846 learners registered to take part in this year’s national assessments and examinations, according to reports by Citizen Digital.

Oburu’s message of encouragement adds to the messages being shared with candidates as they prepare to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have gained in school.

For many learners, the assessments mark an important stage in their education journey. KPSEA candidates are completing primary school, while KJSEA candidates are being assessed as they progress through junior school under Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum.

Parents, teachers and guardians have also been encouraged to support learners by providing a calm environment and reminding them to remain confident throughout the assessment period.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has said the government has put measures in place to ensure the assessments are conducted smoothly and that candidates get a fair opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned.

The Kenya National Examinations Council has also cautioned candidates and examination officials against cheating, warning that examination malpractice could lead to serious consequences.

Oburu’s wishes come as the country focuses on the progress of learners and the importance of education in shaping the next generation.

As candidates begin their assessments, many parents will be hoping their children perform well and move to the next stage of their studies.

The coming days will be important for learners, teachers and families as the nationwide exercise continues.

What message of encouragement would you share with the candidates sitting for KPSEA and KJSEA this year?
