Fred Matiang’i and Ndindi Nyoro Share Podium in Rongai as Opposition Calls for Unity Ahead of 2027

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro made a joint public appearance on Sunday, October 25, 2026, attending Sunday Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

The leaders were accompanied by several lawmakers and regional politicians, including Kitutu Chache North MP Anthony Kibagendi, Bomachoge Borabu MP Obadiah Barongo, Borabu MP Patrick Osero, former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara, and former Kajiado North MP Joseph Manje.

Following the service, the delegation conducted engagements with residents in Rongai Town to outline their political vision.

Speaking during the tour, Nyoro urged opposition factions to stop internal wrangling and focus on building a broad-based coalition to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

He dismissed accusations from allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua labeling him a political project, asserting that he would support whichever candidate the opposition selects through consensus.

Matiang’i welcomed Nyoro’s PPK party into the opposition framework, highlighting that expanded political participation is crucial for offering effective governance alternative.

The joint event reflects ongoing realignments across the political landscape, as rival consultative axes including parallel talks led by Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and Edwin Sifuna strive to consolidate opposition strategy ahead of the 2027 contest.
