Kaizer Motaung Jr. Backs Fernando Da Cruz Despite Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Confederation Cup Exit

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has reportedly thrown his support behind head coach Fernando Da Cruz and his technical team following the club’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.

The backing comes after a disappointing continental campaign for Amakhosi, whose early exit has raised questions among supporters about the team’s performances and direction under the current coaching setup.

Despite the disappointment, Motaung Jr.’s reported show of confidence suggests that the club’s leadership remains committed to supporting Da Cruz and his technical staff as they continue their work at Naturena.

Chiefs entered the competition hoping to make an impact on the continental stage, but their elimination has left the team needing to refocus on its remaining commitments. For a club with a large and passionate fan base, expectations remain high, and setbacks in major competitions often bring increased scrutiny of the coach and players.

Da Cruz and his technical team now face the challenge of improving the side’s consistency, strengthening performances and restoring confidence among supporters. Their progress will likely be assessed through the team’s results and ability to compete in domestic football.

Motaung Jr.’s reported backing could provide some stability for the coaching staff as they seek to address the issues exposed during the Confederation Cup campaign. However, continued support will ultimately be accompanied by expectations that the team shows progress on the pitch.

For Chiefs supporters, the key concern will be whether the current technical team can turn the disappointment into motivation and deliver better results in upcoming matches.

The club’s continental elimination is a setback, but the reported support from its sporting director indicates that a change in leadership should not be assumed solely on the basis of the result.

Further details about Motaung Jr.’s comments and the club’s plans for the remainder of the season have not been provided in the information available.
