KPLC Names Areas Scheduled for Electricity Interruptions on Sunday

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of five counties on Sunday, October 25, to allow maintenance work on the power network.

The scheduled outages will affect Nairobi, Machakos, Kisumu, Kiambu and Kilifi counties. Residents, businesses and institutions in the listed areas have been advised to prepare for temporary power disruptions.

In Nairobi, parts of Komarock and Kayole will experience an outage from 7am to 5pm. The affected locations include Quarry, Komarock Phase 1, Mbuyu Court, Acacia Court, Mihango, Kayole Junction, Tushauriane, Matopeni and Kayole Police Station.

The interruption will also affect Joska, Ruai and North Impact during the same hours, including parts of Utawala, Kamulu, Njiru, Chokaa and surrounding areas.

In Machakos County, power interruptions are scheduled from 9am to 5pm along Kangundo Road, from Joska to Nguluni. Tala and Kangundo will also be affected during the same period.

In Kiambu County, the planned outage will run from 9am to 5pm, affecting Kahunira, Kamburu, Kagaa, Kagwe Tea Factory, Gachoire, Nyanduma and nearby shopping centres and institutions.

Parts of Miwani in Kisumu County will also experience an interruption. The listed locations include Miwani Boys, Oraro, Nyangeta Police and Makini. However, the notice did not specify the exact hours for the Kisumu outage.

In Kilifi County, parts of Kanamai and Mtwapa will lose electricity from 8am to 1pm. The affected locations include Msumarini, Vipingo, Kuruwitu, Kikambala, Mtwapa Gardens, Takaungu and Mnarani, among other nearby areas.

A separate interruption in Kilifi will affect Marafa, Garashi and Mambrui from 9am to 4pm. Other listed locations include KBC Marikebuni, Pumwani, Unga Kings and Majejenjeni.

Customers in the affected areas should charge their phones, plan essential activities in advance and switch off sensitive electrical appliances before the scheduled interruptions begin.

Kenya Power carries out planned maintenance to support the reliability of its electricity distribution network. However, the company may adjust the schedule depending on operational requirements.
