Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Overtakes UDA & ODM, Becomes Most Popular Party In Kenya
The Linda Mwananchi Movement has emerged as the most popular political party in Kenya, surpassing President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in an October 2026 nationwide party affiliation survey, signalling a potentially significant shift in the country’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to the poll published by The Sunday Standard, the Linda Mwananchi Movement secured 25 per cent support, placing it two percentage points ahead of UDA, which recorded 23 per cent.
The results position the emerging movement as a major political force in the country’s increasingly competitive political environment.
The findings could intensify political debate within the ruling establishment and opposition ranks as leaders continue positioning themselves for the next electoral contest.
The survey suggests that established political parties face growing competition from newer movements seeking to attract voters dissatisfied with the existing political order.
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, emerged third with nine per cent support. The party has continued building its political presence as opposition leaders seek to consolidate support across different regions.
The Wiper Democratic Movement and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) followed with eight per cent each, placing them behind the three leading parties.
Their performance highlights the continued relevance of established political formations despite the emergence of new competitors.
Jubilee Party secured seven per cent support, according to the survey, while two per cent of respondents identified with PLP/NARC-K. The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) and the Progressive Party of Kenya (PPK) each recorded one per cent.
The figures place Linda Mwananchi Movement at the top of the reported party affiliation rankings, ahead of UDA, which has been the dominant political vehicle of President Ruto’s administration.
However, party affiliation figures alone do not determine electoral outcomes. Candidate popularity, regional mobilisation, coalitions, campaign strategies and voter turnout will also influence the 2027 contest.
The survey results are likely to fuel further debate over Kenya’s shifting political alliances as parties intensify efforts to strengthen their grassroots networks and attract supporters ahead of the next general election.
