Old Tafo MP Gives Black Challenge GH¢10,000 as Ghana Prepares for World Cup

Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, has received a GH¢10,000 donation from the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, as the team prepares for the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The financial support is intended to boost the morale of the players ahead of the international competition, where the team will represent Ghana on the world stage.

Assafuah’s donation comes as the Black Challenge prepares for the demands of competing against other national teams at the tournament. The contribution is expected to provide encouragement to the players as they continue preparations for the event.

The Black Challenge represents Ghana in amputee football, a sport that gives athletes with limb amputations the opportunity to compete at a high level. The team’s participation in international competitions also offers an opportunity to showcase the abilities and determination of players with disabilities.

With the World Cup approaching, support from individuals and other stakeholders can play a role in encouraging the team as it works towards its objectives. Financial contributions can also help draw attention to the needs of athletes who represent the country in competitions beyond its borders.

For the players, the donation serves as a show of support ahead of a tournament that will place Ghana’s amputee football talent before an international audience. The team will be looking to make the most of its preparations as it gets ready for the challenge in Mexico.

Assafuah’s gesture also highlights the role that public officials and other supporters can play in encouraging national sporting teams. While the donation amounts to GH¢10,000, its stated purpose goes beyond the financial contribution, with the support aimed at lifting the team’s spirits before the competition.

The 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup will provide the Black Challenge with another opportunity to represent Ghana internationally. As preparations continue, the team will be focused on getting ready for the tournament and delivering a performance that reflects its efforts.

The donation adds to the encouragement surrounding Ghana’s representatives as they prepare to take on the challenge in Mexico.
