Three Years Before The Next Government, Buhari Bought A Jet,Tinubu Came And Refused To Use It–Melaye
According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, October 24, 2026, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the acquisition of an Airbus presidential jet and a yacht, describing the Nigerian leader as a prodigal child without identity or lineage.
Melaye made the remarks while questioning the decision to acquire the aircraft and yacht under the Tinubu administration, arguing that the government should have continued using the presidential jet purchased during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a video shared on his official X account, the former Kogi West senator faulted Tinubu for reportedly refusing to use the aircraft acquired for the presidential office before the end of Buhari’s tenure.
According to Melaye, the decision to acquire another aircraft and a yacht raised questions about the administration’s spending priorities, particularly amid the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians.
He argued that the aircraft purchased by the previous administration should have been sufficient for the president’s official travels rather than acquiring another one after Tinubu assumed office.
Melaye said: “Three years before the next government, Buhari bought a jet for the office of the President but Tinubu came and refused to use it, he’s the first Nigerian to get an AirBus.
“They acquired an AirBus and they acquired a Yacht that has never been to the perimeter of this country before.
The ADC chieftain also described Tinubu as a prodigal child with no identity and lineage, using the expression to question the president’s decisions regarding the acquisition of luxury assets.
