Ballot Paper Challenges Force Postponement Of Two Positions In Oforikrom NDC Elections –Amoakohene
According to a report by Citi FM on Saturday October 24, 2026, Ashanti Regional Minister and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Secretary, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced the postponement of voting for the Deputy Secretary and Zongo Caucus positions in the party’s ongoing constituency elections in Oforikrom due to challenges involving ballot papers.
The decision means that while voting for the two affected positions has been suspended, delegates will proceed with the election of candidates contesting the remaining 13 executive positions as scheduled.
Dr. Amoakohene explained that the challenges surrounding the ballot papers had made it necessary to postpone the two contests to ensure that the electoral process could continue without further complications.
According to him, the party intends to organise a separate congress at a later date to elect executives for the Deputy Secretary and Zongo Caucus positions.
The arrangement, he indicated, follows consultations with the candidates involved and other relevant stakeholders.
The postponement affects only the two positions, with voting for the other 13 executive slots expected to continue during the ongoing electoral exercise.
The development comes as the NDC conducts constituency-level elections across the country to select officials who will oversee the party’s grassroots structures and coordinate its activities in their respective areas.
The constituency elections are an important part of the party’s internal democratic process, providing delegates with the opportunity to choose individuals who will occupy key leadership positions and help manage party affairs at the local level.
In Oforikrom, the decision to defer the two positions is expected to allow the party to address the ballot paper challenges before the affected contests are conducted.
Dr. Amoakohene’s explanation also indicates that consultations with candidates and stakeholders have formed part of the arrangements for determining how the postponed elections will be handled.
Although the two positions will not be contested during the current exercise, the remaining elections are expected to proceed as planned, allowing the selection of executives for the other 13 positions to continue.
The party is expected to communicate further details regarding the separate congress for the Deputy Secretary and Zongo Caucus positions at a later date.
