Today’s Headlines:Tinubu a prodigal son, with no identity-Dino Melaye;Tinubu shuts down Kaduna

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dino Melaye, has described President Bola Tinubu as a prodigal child with no identity and lineage.

Melaye made the remark while faulting Tinubu for acquiring an Airbus as a presidential jet and a yacht upon assuming office as president.

Speaking in a video he posted on X, Melaye said: “Three years before the next government, Buhari bought a jet for the office of the President but Tinubu came and refused to use it, he’s the first Nigerian to get an AirBus.

“They acquired an AirBus and they acquired a Yacht that has never been to the perimeter of this country before.

Kaduna metropolis was filled to the brim as from Friday when party supporters and government officials converged on the former capital of Northern Nigeria, for the flag-off of the 2027 APC presidential campaign on Saturday.

The Township stadium burst at the seams as people spilled out of the campaign venue onto Independence way and adjourning boulevards around the arena.

As early as 6am on Saturday, party members massed at the event’s venue, wearing T-shirts with party colors and logos, as well as apparels of various designs, bearing President Bola Tinubu’s picture or broken shackles symbol.

APC-led State Governors, Ministers of the Federal Government of Nigeria, members of the National Assembly, APC National Working Committee members, federal and state appointees were at the stadium.

Executive Director, Estate Services, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Ezekiel Nya-Etok, has attached President Bola Tinubu to the class of former President Shehu Shagari, Lateef Jakande and General Sani Abacha, who championed mass housing for citizens.

Nya-Etok, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), told journalists yesterday in Abuja, noted that President was working to deliver democratic dividends amid hunger and insecurity.

The former governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom said: “Housing is one of his greatest legacies that he is going to have as an achievement.

Do you know that after Shagari Housing and Jakande Housing you can’t talk of any other administration? The other person that unfortunately we don’t give him enough credit is Abacha. Yes, Abacha did a lot for housing.

Electricity supply is to be restored in Edo State after Governor Monday Okpebholo and leaders of organised labour settled the dispute over recognition of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) caretaker committee in the state.

The agreement was reached at a closed-door meeting in Abuja convened by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume. Also present were NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero; Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi; and former Edo State Governor and ex-NLC President, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Governor Okpebholo said the parties had resolved the matter. He said the state government would recognise the caretaker committee and work with labour leaders on arrangements for a substantive election.

There is no issue actually, and we have resolved the issues that border the NLC caretaker committee in Edo,” he said.
